So, it's official: in early August I will be moving to New York. Brooklyn, to be specific, and I'll be moving to an area filled with some of my closest friends from the Denton and Dallas days. I'm excited and a bit nervous, but mostly really eager to get up there and start soaking up the city I've been thinking about for years.
My beloved band, Progress, is going to continue, no matter what. I'll be leading a form of the band in New York while the members here keep a version going as well, and we'll all convene several times a year for regional tours and to keep recording albums. Also, we have a couple exciting gigs coming up before I start my migration, including our first date in Houston at the Continental Club, with our buddies the Funky Knuckles and Buenos Diaz, as well as another hit at our home base, One2One, in Austin.
I'll also be doing a few more fun gigs before skipping town, including one tonight with the witty and charming Dave Madden at the Saxon Pub. I'll also be playing with Brian Broderick at the Elephant Room on Tuesday, and that's gonna be a very good group and a very fun gig. There are rumors of a house party/concert in early August, as well... maybe....
