Welcome to my home on the internet

I live in New York City and I play, write, arrange, and produce music for myself and lots of other people. I spend quite a bit of time in Austin, Texas, and travel around the country with various groups. I've contributed performances, compositions, and arrangements to recordings by bands like Snarky Puppy, Okkervil River, Bill Laurance, Nelo, and many more. My band is Progger.

2015 thus far

I'll admit that I've been pretty lax about updating my personal website! But there's been a lot of activity on a lot of fronts since my last post. Progger has a new site, for starters, as well as some awesome new music in the works. Our session in December at Orb Studios in Austin was a success, and those tracks will constitute the first half of a two-part album that will be finished in New York this summer. This will be the first recording that brings the two "editions" of Progger-- Austin and New York City-- together, although there have already been several shows and tours to that effect. I feel pretty insanely grateful to have crews of musicians in both cities who work so well together and with this music. I'm very excited to see what the future holds, and I'm tremendously looking forward to unleashing some of these beastly players on cities throughout the country over the coming months.

The NYC edition of the band just had a really great show at Drom in New York City's East Village, and our next show is at Fontana's on May 29. There will be many more summer dates announced soon, though, including lots of new places we've never played before.

In addition to activities in Proggervania, I've had the good fortune to work with some other beautiful musical entities such as the MK Groove Orchestra and Sly5thAve's Club Casa Chamber Orchestra. The community of creative, progressive musicians in New York City is incredible, despite skyrocketing rent and all the challenges inherent in living in a city of this size and density. My friends and musical companions here are incredible, and I'm extremely grateful to them for making my almost-two-years here the best period of my life so far, both personally and creatively.
