Austin has been blessed with tons of rain as throngs of tech geniuses and indie bands swarm downtown for the mega-festival that the kids refer to as "south-by." Downtown is starting to get crazy, but it's only going to get crazier as the week rolls on. I had my first taste of it last night sitting in with Larry Gee at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, which was a blast (thanks to my homey Bryan English for getting me in the horn section). I feel like such a hipster-- I took the bus to my gig to avoid parking, and it was ridiculously easy. I'll be doing that a lot more this week.
I've been doing a lot of arranging work for the Vintage 15 Big Band, and that's been very fun and satisfying. Of course, I'm working hard on taking over Austin with Progress, and I can scarcely contain my anticipation to play at Key Bar on Friday. Nelo will be doing a few things this week too, of course, and I'm excited to be hitting with D Madness on Tuesday at Lucky Lounge, so come check us out.
